brand name Generator sets but is also renowned Australia-wide for
the design and construction of robust, purpose-built units to suit
specific customer requirements.

acoustically-silenced Generators for film and television
applications, having pioneered the development of this equipment in
Australia more than 20 years ago.
Built specifically to suit the rigours of the diverse Australian
climate, every Macfarlane Generator is engineered for maximum
reliability and ease of maintenance, and is backed up by a
comprehensive stock of service and replacement parts to suit all
major brands.
| |
Routine servicing and maintenance is the backbone of Macfarlane's
extensive technical support to customers, while its Melbourne
workshop is also expert at the refurbishment of Generator sets for
resale at suprisingly economical prices, together with overhauling
diesel engines, and the re-winding of alternators and Generators.
Its technical staff is multi-skilled to provide customers with a
wide range of maintenance services from a basic service to complete
strip downs and rebuilds.

REFURBISHED POWER AN ECONOMIC ALTERNATIVE
New or refurbished ... Macfarlane Generators offers customers a viable choice.
Alongside its extensive range of brand name new and purpose-built
Generator sets, Macfarlane has a wide selection of refurbished
equipment at very affordable prices. You can usually count the
savings in thousands of dollars.

|
Macfarlane can supply these refurbished units from the smallest
portables to the largest Generators, including multiple sets
suitable for paralleling and load sharing.
Virtually indistinguishable from new when refurbished, these
'pre-owned' Generator sets get the full Macfarlane workshop
treatment.
| |
It often begins with a complete strip down and inspection, and
the replacement of any faulty or suspect parts, before the unit is
re-assembled, painted and returned to original manufacturer's
specifications.
An exhaustive load test program is then completed to ensure
perfect operation, and a detailed specification, and test data sheet
records this information for prospective customers.

| |
Macfarlane's 'pre-owned' Generator sets are carefully purchased
or are selected trade-ins, and have usually been operational in
stand-by situations where the hours actually run are minimal.
Typically, diesel Generators have a life of thousands of hours
before major service is required, so a machine with only a few
hundred hours stand-by operation aboard is virtually in as-new
condition.
But at Macfarlane it doesn't carry that ‘new’ price tag.
|
As good as new.
Refitted, extensively tested and painted,
this set is ready for a new life.
|
Additionally, sales tax is not applicable to ‘pre-owned’
Generators so the savings can be as much as 50 percent ... that
makes tremendous economic sense if the unit is destined for a
stand-by role.
Even as the prime power source, Macfarlane’s refurbished
Generator sets are a smart choice. Let Macfarlane show you the facts
and figures.

MACFARLANE - POWER SINCE 1949
After more than 50 years in business, Macfarlane is the big name
in the Generator game.
Today Macfarlane Generators is one of Australia's most respected
companies, but back in 1949's post war building boom, its origins
were certainly hardworking and humble.
Founder Malcolm Macfarlane returned from WWII and, in partnership
with fellow electrician Ian Alladice, began working from home on
light commercial and domestic installations ... a growth industry at
a time when peace brought a younger Australia prosperity.
|
Managing Director Gerald Kay
|
M.A. Macfarlane & Co. (as it was then) operated successfully
in a small way over the next 20 odd years, moving into specialty
areas like power tool repairs, electric motor rewinds and
maintenance, until the sudden death of its founder in 1967.
Enter Gerald Kay, a one-time Macfarlane apprentice (in 1957) who
had left the company to gain more experience in the industrial field
and, by the late '60s, was successfully operating his own electrical
contracting business, G. G. Kay & Co. Pty Ltd.
Kay had always maintained close links with his first employers -
indeed, he had a member of the Macfarlane family in staff - and the
two companies were involved in several joint-venture projects at the
time.
| |
Gerald Kay acquired M.A. Macfarlane & Co. in mid-1969 and
merged the two companies' activities on the one site in Clayton -
today, in vastly expanded form, it serves as Macfarlane Generators'
national headquarters.
Initially Macfarlane continued its sales and repair activities
and G.G. Kay & Co. Pty Ltd its installation work, but in the
early '70s the two companies expanded into the Generator field.
Macfarlane became involved with the construction of Australia's
first sound-reduced Generators for TV and film work, and soon after
moved into this new area of activity with designs and developments
of its own.

|
Grasping the business opportunity with both hands, Kay moved the
company into the sales and servicing of Generators, and this quickly
became the core of Macfarlane's business.
That was certainly reflected in a name change to 'Macfarlane
Generators' when the two companies were finally merged in mid-'81.
Since then, Macfarlane Generators have grown steadily to become
synonymous with power generation both in Australia and overseas. A
significant proportion of its customers are today drawn from
neighbouring Asian countries.
| |
Macfarlane Generators offers customers an extensive range of new,
used and refurbished Generator sets, as well as a comprehensive
parts back-up to suit all the major brands, and expert repair and
servicing support.
Fifty years young, Macfarlane Generators is proudly 100
percent Australian-owned.
